Kyle Merritt is also known as Kyle Merritt MacLachlan. Kyle graduated from University of Washington in 1982 and decided to move to Hollywood, California with a dream to become an actor. MacLachlan is of Scottish descent. He has two siblings, Craig and Kent, living in the Pacific Northwest.
MacLachlan has worked comprehensively with David Lynch. His very first appearance was as Paul Atreides in the movie Dune. In 1986, he was seen as Jeffrey Beaumont in Blue Velvet (1986). During 1990-1991, Kyle Meritt portrayed the character of Special Agent Dale Cooper on the ABC popular ‘Twin Peaks’. He reprised the role for 1992 prequel ‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me’.
In 1993, he appeared in the movie version of ‘The Trial’ playing the lead role of the persecuted Josef K. On the very popular American series ‘Sex and the City’, he portrayed the character of Dr. Trey MacDougal. In ‘Touch of Pink’, Kyle Merritt portrayed the spirit of ‘Cary Grant’. MacLachlan gave his voice to nefarious media mogul Donald Love in the video game Grand Theft Auto III.
In 1995, he was seen in ‘Showgirls’, a movie which was heavily berated by critics and which collected seven Golden Raspberry Awards. All this made MacLachlan to regret over his decision to get involved with the movie.
MacLachlan has also appeared in several plays, such as John Kolvenbach’s ‘On an Average Day’; on Broadway in ‘The Caretaker’ as well as in Romeo and Juliet, and the Shakespearean history Henry V. MacLachlan made a guest appearance on ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’, playing a father who shot and killed a sociopathic child who murdered his son. His next appearance was on ‘In Justice’ and then he joined ‘Desperate Housewives’. At first, he joined as a guest star but later became a fulltime cast member.
MacLachlan was one of the presenters at the London leg of Live Earth. MacLachlan was next seen in 2008 movie, ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2′.
Currently, he’s living in Manhattan with his wife, Desiree Gruber. The couple has a son, Callum Lyon MacLachlan, born on July 25, 2008, in Los Angeles. They have two small dogs (a Jack Russell terrier and a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix).
